James Naylor, MA

James is a London based choral director and community practitioner.

He studied under Simon Halsey and graduated with an MA in Choral Conducting from the University of Birmingham. During his time at UoB, he also received tuition and guidance from Julian Wilkins and Simon Carrington, and gained valuable experience working with groups of all sizes and ability.

James' previous projects include a community performance of Benjamin Britten’s Noye’s Fludde in Putney and several performances around the UK of a devised piece exploring the musical connections of
Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night. He was also part of the team of conductors that lead the 500 Voices (including members of WFCC) in a performance of David Lang's the public domain at the Barbican Centre.

As a freelance musician, James is dedicated to bringing joy through high quality music to members of all backgrounds and communities. Alongside directing the WFCC, he is music director of Julian Light Opera Society in Ealing and of chamber opera company The Willmore Singers.
